Amy has practiced at OMJB since 2018 after spending the first part of her career at Hinckley Allen. She is an experienced business advisor, litigator, and trial attorney. She regularly counsels and defends employers in all aspects of the employment relationship, including hiring and firing, leaves of absence, anti-discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and non-competes. Amy is a talented trial advocate with trial experience in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Amy earned her B.A. from Yale University and her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law. She was named a “Woman to Watch” by the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund and has been named a Super Lawyer™ multiple times. Amy currently serves as co-chair of the Hartford County Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Committee. She volunteers her time as a youth softball coach and member of the Haddam-Killingworth Little League Board of Directors.

Michael McCormack’s article Will your insurance cover coronavirus-related losses, lawsuits was published in the April 6, 2020 edition of the Hartford Business Journal. The article addresses the various types of insurance coverage that businesses should consider for claims and losses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Michael was also quoted on this issue in an April 10 article in the Hartford Courant addressing insurance coverage issues small-businesses face arising from loss of business income from government ordered shutdowns.

Bill and Michael continue their service on the Executive Committee. Bill recently completed a two-year term as Chair of the Litigation Section. Michael was also appointed to another term as a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Insurance Law Section. He is a former chair of the Insurance Law Section and has been actively involved with the section for many years.
Attorney William O’Sullivan’s article Business Litigation: 2018 in Review was released by the Connecticut Bar Journal. This is the tenth consecutive year in which Bill’s annual summary of case developments in business litigation from the Connecticut Supreme Court and Connecticut Appellate Court has been accepted for publication in the Connecticut Bar Journal, a publication of the Connecticut Bar Association. Bill’s article will appear in Volume 93, Number 3 of the Connecticut Bar Journal.

Ray practiced law for thirty-five years, twenty which were with O’Sullivan McCormack Jensen & Bliss PC (formally Baker O’Sullivan & Bliss PC). His focus was on bankruptcy, commercial law and small business formation. We wish Ray well in his retirement.
Attorney Michael McCormack spoke at an insurance law presentation sponsored by the Connecticut Bar Association Insurance Law Section at the Connecticut Legal Conference in Hartford, Connecticut. Michael and the other panelist addressed issues insurance policy conditions in various types of insurance policy and the risks associated with not complying with insurance policy conditions when seeking coverage for insurance claims under various types of insurance policies.
Attorney Michael McCormack obtained a judgment in favor of O’Sullivan McCormack Jensen & Bliss’s client denying an insurance company’s claims for damages for alleged bailment and negligence arising from a fire at the client’s facility. The insurance company was contractually required to pay property damage to its insured after the insured’s property stored at the client’s facility was damaged in the fire. After paying the insured’s claim, the insurance company filed litigation against our client to recover the insurance proceeds it was required to pay, claiming that the fire was caused by the negligence of O’Sullivan McCormack Jensen & Bliss’s client and that the client owed a heightened duty to the insured as an alleged bailee of the insured’s property. After a trial on the merits, the court denied the insurance company’s claims in their entirety and entered judgment in favor of the firm’s client.
Attorney Michael McCormack spoke at the Connecticut Bar Association Litigation Retreat in Chatham, Massachusetts on insurance issues for litigators. Michael’s presentation addressed various types of claims that arise in lawsuits which may or may not be covered under various types of insurance policies, including personal liability, commercial general liability, professional liability, and director and officer insurance policies. William O’Sullivan also attended and spoke briefly at the retreat as Chair of the Litigation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
